Samuel L. Jackson Reads "Go the F*)& to Sleep"

At my company's holiday luncheon today, some of my co-workers started discussing the children's book Go the F&*$ to Sleep. Frankly, I'd never heard of it, but not having kids, I guess that's not too surprising. One of them mentioned that to fully appreciate the book, I must hear Samuel L. Jackson read it.

Without hesitation, I Googled the book and about fell out of my chair laughing hysterically while listening to Samuel L. Jackson. And immediately, I knew I had to share it with you.

Just a warning, the video below is NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK. Also, you probably don't want to get this book for your kids for Christmas.

Enjoy! Happy Friday!

Science is Fun!

I love this story I read on the Huffington Post yesterday. I love that the ingenuity of this dad. I love that rather than just taking his son to a science museum or watching science shows (both of which are really good things), this dad made science real AND fun for his son through their joint experiential learning. In turning an iPhone into a space craft, the dad taught his son how to think outside the box and find answers to questions himself rather than just relying on someone else's answer.

Make sure to watch the video. It's pretty incredible and you probably haven't seen the Earth from this perspective before.

Father and Son Send iPhone Into Space And Record Incredible Video
Hunter Stuart, The Huffington Post, October 16, 2010

A father and son from Brooklyn, New York sent an iPhone into the stratosphere a few weeks ago to record a video of the earth's curvature.

The two spent eight months researching and testing their homemade craft, which was made of a weather balloon and a styrofoam case for the iPhone, before launching in Newburgh, NY.

The phone apparently braved winds of 100 miles-per-hour and temperatures as cold as 60 below zero (the iPhone was smartly packed with hand warmers).

The recorded video shows the phone reaching a height of 100,000 feet before the balloon burst, plummeting the contraption back to earth, where it landed 30 miles from the launch point, in a tree, where the father and son found it in the dark because of the iPhone's LED light.

"Mom! What's for Dinner?"

Do you get sick and tired of hearing this question? I do and I don't even have kids.

My least favorite moment of each day comes when I stand in front of the refrigerator pondering the question, "What should I make for dinner today?" Invariably, I will get an idea in my head only to discover that I have all but one ingredient. This turn of events sends me back to stand in front of my open refrigerator asking, "Okay, what should I make for dinner NOW?" The game continues.

But now, thanks to a good friend of mine, I won't have to ponder this question anymore and neither will you! Whether you have kids or are a bachelor or bachellorette, your best kitchen helper just arrived!

Let's pretend that in your kitchen, you've got peanut butter, bread, and tomotoes and that's it. And the kids are eager to know, "Mom! What's for dinner?" Being the good mom you are, you don't want to do the Drive-Thru Dash, but you know junior had a peanut butter & jelly for lunch today (you used all the jelly, so he can't have that anyway). What to do?????

Visit supercook.com, type in the available ingredients and Voila! in less than 2 seconds, you've got a very nutritious dinner entree!

Okay, this may not be the most appetizing entree, but it's dinner and it's saved you time and money.
