In light of the recent takeovers of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by the Feds, sale of Bear Stearns to JP Morgan, failure of many banks, this weekend's huge spike in gas prices (gas went from 3.95 to 4.39 in 2 days in my town) and now today's bankruptcy of Lehmann Brothers and sale of Merrill Lynch to Bank of America, there is one question we should ask outloud to anyone who will listen at every opportunity:
Are you better off today than you were 8 years ago? Is there more or less unemployment today than there was in 2000?
Ronald Reagan won in 1980 after asking these 2 questions in his final statement of the debate just 1 week before the election.
We can win by hammering this home too.
